I just had the most unusual experience, which seems like a sign from the universe that I should not be dating.So, lately, I’ve gotten a lot of social pressure to find an ‘eligible suitor,’ so to speak, and ‘get myself out there.’ First off, I don’t love being single, but I LOATHE formal dating. I enjoy relationships, but I’m a fairly self-sufficient introvert and don’t mind solitude. That being said, it takes a lot of self-motivation and effort to intentionally pursue dating efforts.Nonetheless, I begrudgingly decided to ‘dip my toe in the water’ this evening and downloaded a dating app. I made a profile picked photos, answered personalized questions, etc. then, I spent about 40 mins swiping and reading through profiles.Quite a decent proportion of profiles mentioned being bisexual, polyamorous, etc. I thought ‘wow,’ maybe this isolation with the pandemic has sparked a social movement. Then I finally happened upon a profile that was quite specific towards sexual preference, which made me think to check my settings... -_-. I put in all of that time and effort, to realize that I had accidentally selected that I am a ‘man.’The whooooole time, I just thought that people had become super socially progressive since the last time I dabbled in online dating.
